Mettowee River Fishing Report June 19. 2025

Fishing report by Maxx Juckett, photos by Andrew Williams

The Mettowee River is running low and clear with near perfect conditions for fishing. The gauge in Middle Granville is at 4.0 feet with a flow of 240 cfs. The rain cooled the water helping the trout become more active this week. The water temperature is still around 65° making it ideal for happy healthy trout. The coming heat next week will surely raise the temps into the 70’s. That being said, the trout are much less likely to survive being caught and released in these temperatures, so I suggest keeping fish if you choose the river.

Other viable options when the water is hot is to fish any of the lakes and ponds in our area. This includes Lake Saint Catherine and Lake Bomoseen as well as Cossayuna Lake.

Some active bug life includes midges (16-24), stonefly (8-12) and mayflies (12-20). Patterns that have produced this week are Hares Ear (16), Prince Nymph (12) and Pat’s Rubber Legs Stonefly (8). Tight lines!
