Voices in the Barn: Slate Valley Museum Audio Tour Launch
On Saturday, September 13, the Slate Valley Museum will welcome the public for a free community day celebrating the launch of its new audio tour.
The audio tour was developed as part of the museum’s 30th anniversary season. The museum is mainly a self-guided experience, and the purpose of the tour is to help visitors navigate their visit with access to more content than they may see in the exhibitions themselves.
“Our museum has really maxed out what it can do in terms of space,” explains Executive Director Sarah Kijowski. “The audio tour is one way to let us flesh out some of the stories that we tell. It’s also increasing access for folks who are unable to read extensive text, or who prefer to learn via audio.”
Visitors can access the tour during their visit on their personal cell phones via posted QR codes or on a small supply of tablets that can be borrowed at the museum’s front desk. Visitors using their phones are asked to bring their own headphones or earbuds.
The community day event will run from 10am until 4pm. Admission – including the audio tour - is free for everyone. In the longer term, the new audio tour will be included in the cost of regular museum admission. Those with questions should call the museum at 518-642-1417.
