Mettowee River Fishing Report June 3, 2025
by Maxx Juckett
The river had a considerable blow out this week with the rain bumping the river to 6.9 feet with a flow of 2,300 cfs. The dry weather this week has brought the river to a fishable level at 4.7 feet with a flow of 540 cfs. The water temperature is 62°.
There has been lots of bug activity particularly in the village, and at the little league fields. Mainly mayflies with a few caddis mixed in. There is plenty of action on top if you like to dry fly fish, but nymphing has been the key this week. The trout are starting to spread out a bit, but walking a ways up or downstream will help you locate fish. A one hour after work trip this afternoon produced 8 rainbows in the 12” range. The browns are less common any tend to run larger than the rainbow trout.
Some productive patterns this week include Stonefly (size 6, brown), hares ear (size 16) and an egg pattern (size10).
